Sleep disorders affect 1 out of every 3 children! Is your child at risk?

  • Trouble getting out of bed in the morning?
  • Falling asleep in school?
  • Hyperactive?
  • Snoring?

If you answered “YES” to any of these questions, your child may have an underlying sleep disorder and should be evaluated by a fellowship trained pediatric sleep specialist.

Pediatric obstructive sleep apnea syndrome (OSAS) is a very serious and under diagnosed condition affecting over 500,000 children nationwide. One out of every five children who snore has OSAS. Snoring is always abnormal. In overweight children, the prevalence of OSAS is much, much higher. Pediatric OSAS has been linked to difficulty learning, a lower IQ, memory and school related problems, behavioral problems, diabetes, high blood pressure, and decreased quality of life. OSAS is treatable and has been shown to reverse many of these issues.

Pediatric Sleep Apnea is not the same as adult sleep apnea!
A pediatric sleep specialist is specifically trained to deal with sleep disorders in children, from infants to adolescents.  OSAS, narcolepsy, restless legs syndrome, snoring, insomnia, circadian rhythm disorders, and sleepwalking are a few of the numerous sleep disorders that can be assessed in your child through an appointment with a pediatric sleep specialist.
